Tree plantation drive
Tree plantation drive held at Nagarjuna: “Learn characters from trees, values from roots, and change from leaves.”- Mr. Ajay Waghmare, President, MES, Nagpur.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, NSS unit of Nagarjuna Institute of Engineering Technology and Management, Nagpur organised a tree plantation activity at its campus and appealed to students to take a pledge to protect them and celebrate a Green Rakhi.
Mr. Ajay Waghmare, President, Maitrey Educational Society encouraged students to plant more trees and take care of their plantations thereafter. Mr. Pradeep Nagrare, Secretary, Maitrey Educational Society interacted with students and said that students have celebrated “Vriksha Bandhan” with great zeal showing their love towards Nature.
Mr. Kuldeep Ramteke,Treasurer, Maitrey Educational Society stressed that college students must be connected with sapling plantation and awareness programmes which are key factors to encourage citizens to protect the environment by planting trees. Dr. M. K. Rahangdale, Principal, NIETM said that plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.
On this occasion, Prof. Sachin Mate (NSS PO), Prof. Prakash Ingale (Sport Director), all HOD of various departments, faculties and students planted 110 saplings in and around the campus including Bottle Brush, Neem, Bael, Nirmali, Cashew, Mango, Guava, Jackfruit etc. On account of this drive the CSE department of NIETM organised poster presentation activity on ‘Trees are the root of our existence’. Students showed great enthusiasm in planting saplings and they knew their hard work would recharge ground water, prevent soil erosion and yield more benefits for future generations.
